Product Alerts for WooCommerce 2.3 is now available for download at CodeCanyon.net or via automatic updates if you are using the Envato Market plugin. This is a minor update to address some small issues and growing changes in PHP.
New reCaptcha Verification Option
As PHP advances many websites, including CodeCanyon, have been adjusting their requirements. One such change is the desired elimination of sessions variables. However without these sessions it is difficult to securely offer a text based captcha on the restocking form. In steps Google’s smart solution of reCaptcha!
Everyone should be pretty familiar with their system as it is arguably the most popular solution. Many major retailers use this system to verify human shoppers and prevent bots from checking out. Chances are pretty good at some point you have clicked the “I’m not a robot” box.
You will now have the option to add the above box to your restocking form to ensure that a physical user is requesting the subscription. The former session based option will still work for the time being, but it has been deprecated. This means that it will ultimately be removed in a future version. It is best to stop using it as soon as possible to prevent any problems moving forward.
Other important changes to note:
- A syntax error in the installation process prevented some of the database tables from properly installing. New users should no longer have any trouble installing the plugin.
- Additional styling issues were corrected on the Restocking popup subscription form
- FontAwesome is now loaded through a modified inclusion specific to this plugin to prevent any issues with other plugins or themes also loading FontAwesome.
As always, if you find any issues or concerns with this plugin, please open a support ticket to report the problem.
